I loathe MBNA with a passion. Despite letter after letter, with cheque payments enclosed, and repeated income/expenditures, they continue to harass us. 2 weeks ago, I was told if I paid £25, and set a DD for this amount, they would freeze interest and charges. I paid the money, and told them I would contact them within the month, as I didn't know if I could afford to commit to this mthly until December, when the SSP ends, and the Incapacity begins.
Yesterday I received a letter stating that I had promised to pay £20, and have broken my agreement. Yet htis is all fabrication.
DH owed them less than £600, and wrote etc. They call weekly on the home phone and mobile, despite knowing the full situation. Last week, he went into hospital, and despite knowing thsi, they continue to call each evening to ask if he's home yet.
They are the absolutel worst, and I the sleeplessness, can't eat, and constant tears and palpitations are so much a part of my life, that I sometimes feel I just can't face another day.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
In the end MBNA will not prove to have been the worst. For me that award will probably go to HSBC!Julie

I rank them both as equals  :mad:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

May be I'm missing thep oint but this sounds like harassment. Can you not (a) report them for this behavious and/or (b) instruct them that you will not deal with them over the phone and that they must either write or e-mail.
There is some good advice on this from the charities listed at the top of the page.
