HD DVD's?

is there any dvd's out there that are HD?
if so, can these be played on a bog standard dvd player to a HD telly and get HD picture quality?

thinking of getting a package of HD telly and 160gb HDD recorder (comet package). thoughts please, especially if youhave bought this package.

my current freeview receiver does not get any HD signals, do you need skyhd to get the likes of BBCHD?

    Yep, that's Blu-Ray.

Try HD-DVD, much much cheaper, see http://www.leconcepts.com/dvd/toshdvd/toshhde1.htm

Needless to say they'll be a format war. HD-DVD seems cheaper all round.

  • i'm leaning towards HD-DVD instead of bluray, despite the fact that bluray offers more storage. maybe it's just because HD-DVD is cheaper and i'm skint!:o

Especially with Sony hoping to swamp the market with blu-ray in the PS3 and Microsoft bringing out a HD DVD drive for the XBox 360.
