The active ingredients are usually the same but the amounts of them may vary.

I was using Lemsip Max all in one tablets recently, which have 500mg of paracetomol per tablet. I bought cheaper tesco own tablets, which have identical active ingredients per tablet but only 250mg of paracetomol and very slightly less of the ingredient for chesty coughs.

I by own brand painkillers and cold/flu stuff works fine for me. OH insists that the own brand don't work for him so he gets branded stuff

  • I buy the own brand. I always check that if there's an own brand product before buying a big-name brand. I then compare to make sure the ingredients and quantities are the same.

I find it amusing that Tesco market their Cold and Flu for over a pound a box less than their Sinus Relief. Compare them the next time you're in store. Its identical but for the packaging.
