How long will icing decorations keep?

After a previous thread on making little icing decorations for cupcakes (holly leaves and the like), I got hold of some Dr. Oetker ready to roll icing. It's in five different colours and I'm going to use the red and green to make holly berries and leaves.

Anyway, each colour is separately packed in a sealed foil bag. Once I open them and make the decorations, how long will they keep for? Just wondering how far in advance I can start on them as it's going to take me ages!

Should I just keep them in an air-tight box? Do they need to be refrigerated?

They will last ages, just keep them in an airtight container, in a cool place (cupboard) so they don't go soft and sticky.

Thanks! We have a pantry cupboard which is very cool so that should be perfect.

I have red, yellow, green, blue and black icing in the pack. Might use yellow and blue to try and make some presents (blue square with yellow lines on like a ribbon and a bow shape). Not sure what to do with the black at this stage.

Why not use the black to make lumps of coal?! :rotfl:You could sprinkle some edible glitter on too to make them sparkle a bit
