HELP - No money and need christmas ideas!

I found out today that my husband had lost his job

I don't work for disability reasons, so we are deeply in the brown stuff...
anyway, what it does mean is that the week before christmas, we have him here, and my ds who is 7 will be off school.

I want to forget about things till after christmas(already done the jobcentre, job searching things) and wanted ideas for how we can make the most of the week we now have together, spending, little or nothing.
Got some value choccie and rice crispies, so will be making cakes, have some paper chain bits on the go as well...
Luckily, christmas itself is paid for and wrapped so thats one less thing to worry about!
Ok, ok, i need to go back onto Weightwatchers, lost 7 stone..... 2 back on, this has to change.....Help!!!

jodie - sorry to hear about OH's job but I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun creating bits and pieces and it'll be a great family time for you.
Good luck :j At least you sound positive about it all

How about having a Christmas movie day or night - am sure you must have some already and could have with cheap popcorn or homemade treats. Go for a walk and look for Christmas lights, or if there's a nice display in your town go and have a look. See if any churches in your area are having carol services - even if you're not very religious they can be nice this time of year.
Am sure your hubby will find something soon x
  • make your own playdough - either to play with or harden for tree ornaments. Loads of receipes on the web, just flor, saly & sometimes veg oil and cream of tartar, depending on the recipe.

I also have some lovely family craft blogs that I will hunt for you & post tomorrow.

Also have you ever heard of "Geocaching" it is like a treasure hunt. http://www.geocaching.com/
I have never done it so not sure how accesable it is for people with disabilites. You just need a phone or satnav with GPS to do it.
  • Hi there
So sorry to hear about your hubby's job. Here are a couple of websites I use a lot with my 5 year old DS.

I'd go to church too, our village church has a family Christingle Service on Christmas Eve, which always puts us in a festive mood.

Hi how about digging out old family photos and making albums/collage pictures? You can pick up
    cheap frames in various shops.
