A good pair of dressmakers scissors?

Got the sewing machine and the curtain fabric, so am looking to buy

a good pair of scissors. I do intend to make more curtains in the

future, so can anyone in the know recommend a brand/size of

scissors for the job? The prices seem to vary greatly, so I would

appreciate some advice on what and wear to buy. Thanks if you can

help :).

  • I have a pair of these, and have been using them for 10 years or more, love them, they cut beautifully have stayed nice and sharp.

Mine are the actual dressmaker ones. This was the best link I could find for illustration, you might get them cheaper elsewhere.

  • Thanks Jane Blackford for posting, appreciate the link :). Wanted a pair that last, because of the expense, so the fact that you have had them for ten years is a great recommendation, thanks.

i buy mine from Ikea, think they are about £3 a pair

work just as well as my expensive ones, and at that price i dont mind having to replace them, if the kids get hold, and use them to cut paper (sharpening just isnt enough to bring them back to standard)

another vote for Fiskars scissors :)

I've got a 'thing' about scissors (bad ones drive me mad) & I have several pairs of theirs, some more than 20 years old & they're still going strong
