Weekend away

Any hotel recommendations for weekend away? North or South, but not too far south as I don't want to spend half the weekend travelling.

  • I had a lovely weekend last year staying in the Narrows in Portaferry. There was a deal on, two nights B&B and one evening meal, and the hotel was lovely and so was the meal. But it was about 18 months ago, and I know that in the hotel/restuarant business, a lot can change in that length of time....

  • or if you're not fussy what area you stay in try priceline.co.uk and use the name your price facility.

You can get 5 star hotels for as little as £50 a night!

  • For good deals, I usually just buy all the local papers (tele, irish news, newsletter) & check the ads. They all seem to have different days for holiday ads so maybe someone else will know which days to buy which paper...

RTE's Aertel is also good. It's also online here.
Try pages 506 & 507 for the nearest hotels - there's one in co sligo for euro 109 pps for the weekend - hot tub, pool, seaweed bath, beauty salon. :) There's another for euro 99 pps. Both 2nights + 1 dinner.

Feel like taking a break myself now... this site seems to make me want to spend rather than save!
  • I want to go on that break too now....
