Small Business Looking For Shop Advice

Hi all,
I am after a bit of advice. But I'm not sure if I am in the right place, so apologies if I'm not.
I have my own small business and would like to expand into shops. A few years ago I went into a little village shop and they were renting space for crafters and small businesses. Basically you had a section of the shop and paid them a commission on all the sales.
I have tried googling loads of different terms but cannot find any thing useful. So I wondered if anyone knows of any shops that do this, or how I can find out more information on it.
TIA for any information.

Apart from the hurdle of "first find your renting out space shop", could you be sure of sufficient footfall in a village to justify paying rent and you being there (or paying someone to be there) for several hours a day or you will have to invest in advertising. There is of course mutual benefit in this type of arrangement as your potential customers may buy something from main shop.
You may have to personally visit or telephone shops in the areas you think would be viable. Back street shops in small towns may also be a possibility and many premises have outbuildings which could possibly be adapted for minimum outlay.
This does seem a more viable proposition than some I've seen on this forum. Good luck!If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Depending on your wares, I would want to be extremely selective on where they are sold. It sounds to me that you are an artisan?
As lincroft said, I would speak to the shops direct, you will have more control.
A good place to start would be some of the trade press that is pertinent to your trade.
Also, it would be "worth a punt" to go to some sort of trade show, again pertinent to your trade - for example "the bbc good food show" or "arts and crafts in the Birmingham NEC (or whatever local place that holds these events).0 -
