class homemade presents for parents

Hi was wondering if anyone could help? I have been looking at some of your fab ideas on here and need inspiration.

I need to get my class of 30 8 year olds to make a present for each parent and i need to do it quickly. Ideally it needs to be easy but look effective. A big ask I know!! Everything that i have done in the past is too complicated or time consuming so would love any suggestions.

Thanks for reading this and i hope to be inspired!!

    my daughters school is making a pop up santa card for each of us, maybe a pop up christmas card?
  • This might not be what you have in mind....but how about them painting a picture onto card, or sticking mosaic shapes onto card, looping a ribbon through the top... and attaching one of those small tear off calendars on the bottom.
  • My Daughter came home with her 'christmas bag' the other day and in it was a handmade card, stocking picture and a cake wrapped in ribbon.
    The cake was about half the size of a saucer wrapped in a ribbon (quite a wide one) iced (I think with ready rolled) and an icing shape on top. The kids had made the cake and the staff cut it out. Sounds like alot more work than it actually was!

    just looked at my tree and noticed a lot of my decs are felt "homemade looking" stars and stockings which cost me quite a bit very shaker style.
    The stars are simply two stars cut out of red felt and blanket stitched together stuffed and ribbon attached to hang. The stockings are simlilar but not stuffed. You could glue the edges and let them do a rough stitching around. They could stick on some buttons ect to personalise them x x HTH

    How about a centrepiece? It is a Christmas paper plate with a small red candle stuck in the middle and the base decorated with tinsel and all things sparkly. we use some of the stuff florists use (don't know what its called sorry, its what they stick flowers into) to stick everything into so that it stays where we want it to. It takes about 10 min and you can get the kids to write a Christmas message to their family stick it onto a lollipop stick and attach that too.

    Thanks for the replies everyone. Like your ideas. Already have calendar sorted so just need other pressies.
    Had already bought plastic coasters that we could decorate etc but would love more ideas.
    Might even make a version of the pots of gold?
    Thanks again, knew i could rely on this board!
  • My best friend is a teacher, although she teaches year 3/4. She has taken a picture of each child, laminated it and stuck it onto a piece of card shaped as a vase (they are doing something to do with egypt or something?) and the children are decorating each vase. Could you do something along those lines but maybe put their picture on the middle of a star shape?
  • My SIL is a classroom assistant who was doing something similar with her class last week. They were decorating glasses to use as candle/tealight holders. I believe they were using glass paints and stick on jewels and shapes.

    I donated a huge bag of tealights I'd bought from Ikea ages ago and never used and I also gave her 6 or 8 glass ramekin dishes (the ones you get when you buy Gu desserts) which could be used as tealight holders too.

    I'm pretty sure she had been to Ikea for the cheap glasses.
