13 week New Deal course and working part-time

I have been on JSA for 12 months. Recently I have started part-time work for 6 hours a week. I also do voluntary work in a charity shop. My job centre advisor has told me that I will have to give up both the part-time job and the voluntary work to go on the 13 week New Deal course. Surely this can't be right? Is there anyway I can keep these jobs while on the New Deal course?

Thanks very much.

  • Who is running the new deal 'course'? You may be able to incorporate what you are currently doing into New Deal. As I understand it, New Deal is about preparing you for work - so this may be an option.
  • sooner they scrap this new deal crap the better.Plese google it and you will find it hard to get someone who thinks its a good deal.
