Frustrated with Tesco Delivery!

 Suppose to have my delivery last night between 8-10pm.

It got to about half past nine, tesco delivery van came into my cul-de-sac, got stuck on the ice. He spent quite a while trying to get out the cul-de-sac. About 20mins later he rang me to say he couldn't get in my road due to ice, but i could walk, on the ice, to fetch my delivery [£60 worth!] is i wanted. Errrr neh you're okay, i'm actually suffering from chest infection hence i ordered a delivery.

Anyway, i phoned the customer service number, re ordered my delivery for now tomorrow - just popped online to delete a few items that i don't need due to it being two days late and the website is playing funny beggars!!

So in frustration i've just deleted my order... What i find really annoying is that i've had to get out my drive for work everyday since the ice/snow arrived, in a low to the ground 1 litre car and yet Tesco can't get their big wheeled wee van to my house!!

Anyway, rant over. Order cancelled - money saving for now if nowt else! :rotfl:

God, you really are complaining over nothing! Ice and snow is causing all kinds of chaos for deliveries, not just you...

  • I never said i was the only one at all.
I was merely venting frustration that I, like many, can get to work over a sheet of ice, yet a Van can't get over ice.

My dad is a full time carer for my mum & cannot leave her alone & he had some of the worst snow in scotland. He could not get out to take her to Asda and no one could come over to sit with her. so I did an online order for him a week in advance, Asda cancelled it the very evening before it was due to be delivered at 9-11am in the morning. They left a vulnerable couple without their food/necessities and didn't give a damn about it despite the fact that the local store manager confirmed they could deliver. But their call centre did not care and cancelled the whole order without first checking locally about delivery conditions. I couldn't go for them myself as I live 300+ miles away. :(

Your car weight is about 1 to 1.5 tonne. A Tesco van is 3.5 tonne and rear wheel drive with twice the amount of engine power possibly running on all-season tyres. It got no chance compared to a 1 litre, front wheel light car.

And you said it yourself, it got stuck on the ice while you didn't

At least he tired to get to you, can't say fairer than that.

But when it leaves vulnerable people that rely on that delivery, it becomes tricky. I promise you, most of these drivers want to get their food to you, and if they know you will prob think that you will need it. But if they can't physically get to you or it becomes a high risk, thats where disagreements happen when they cancel the order.

    Tough times indeed....
  • With respect, if you're well enough to go into work then couldn't you stop off at the shops on your way home?
