A quick question for advice if thats ok? :o I have not had my hair done for a looooong time now. So, I have booked for this - will cost £50 maximum for style and colour. I have neglected so many things due to focusing on the debt but I need to start thinking about my appearance a bit more. This is to try and help me with my self-esteem and also to help make me look more professional. Thing is am I just spending money on something new thats not an item? I can cancel this appointment as its not for a few weeks. I do want to improve how i look a bit but desperately need to be rid of the debt too arrrgh! :rotfl::rotfl:Any advice greatfully received :D

  • You can't spend *all* of your money on debt repayments, you'd drive yourself mad, I don't think that spending £50 once every few months is a problem - as long as you budget it into your spending and don't just bung it on a credit card! :D
  • Pay day today so have paid tax credit overpayment £29.43, CC £25.84 cleared it again work related so will get back, loan 249.57 and MBNA £41.60 total of £346.44

    Hello my dear,

Please consider home hair dye, I saw one in Tesco for about £3, they go up to about £6. Also, I cut my own hair, but if you are not willing to do this, think about a local mobile hairdresser that will come to your house. Ask around or look in a local newletter/ newspaper. They're normally quite cheap, I wouldn't expect more than twenty. I don't know if you work, but try getting a day off completely to yourself, have a nice bubble bath, face pack, body scrub. Make a bit of effort with your make-up, if you wear it. Get out some of your clothes that you like and even get them dry cleaned, if you fancy a splurge! Or just use a clothes brush to get them looking smart. It'll do wonders, I promise. And you can treat yourself to a haircut, etc. when this is all over :j

Give yourself a break, if it's going to up your self esteem then go for it, though I would say that £50 is quite expensive. Why not try a different hairdresser. I went to one the other week that I'd never have dreamed of using before because it is for 'older' ladies, but they still know how to cut hair! Mine cost less than £20 and is a really nice cut/restyle (and I hardly ever have mine cut either).

Last loan payment of the month has come out today bringing my total so far to £8805.68/£21000. That's it for me this month...don't think I can stretch my budget any further.

I've only made a small payment on the dreaded Bcard this month as I was focussing on clearing a smaller debt first (thank you Mr Snowball for the motivation) so my new total for Feb is:

Another small payment to EGG card this morning £8.61, this was from quidco cashback and an item sold on ebay. Have another 7 items waiting to finish so hopefully get another £10 transferred in the next couple of days - Fingers Crossed!

Some good news from my mum - my monthly payment of £150 to her for our part-share of the caravan will be the final payment in March !!! ye ha! we bought the caravan 3 years ago - and used the credit card shuffle to make payments back, think it has only cost us about £350 in transfer fees, so all good. There will be an extra £150 going towards to Egg card making this a monthly payment of £450 - god that sounds crap it going back to the banks instead of our pockets. Defo going to try and keep making the small overpayments. -

What I could do with £500/month? - any ideas folks?
mine would be new bathroom, it is terrible - the one that has had the tiles painted and now come off - disgusting :( I'm shamed at the state of it - I keep closing the door - whereas if I had a new one I would have the door wide open to show it off!

    £314.36/8500.00
