Something to record my Sky TV???

Hi Everyone

I would like to buy something to record programmes from my Sky Tv, i dont want to subscribe to Sky plus so was looking for a box instead. I'm not really up on these things so any suggestions would be great!

Many thanks

Suzanna

You don't have to subscribe to Sky+ anymore to use a Sky+ box. They did away with the £10 charge. You can pick one up on eBay.

EDIT: You do need two satellite feeds to record one channel whilst watching another

I have just cancelled my sky, I no longer have the ability to record.

  • Then you might as well get rid of the Sky box all together and get a Freesat+ box.

It's a straight swap for the Sky box.

Yes but OP indicates that they have Sky but not Sky+.

Thank you, i did not realise that i was able to get a second hand Sky Plus box and use it, I may do this now, I only have space for one wire on the sky dish and so will have to watch the channel that i want to record but its better than nothing.

Any suggestions on a box would be welcome as i only have half price sky for 6 months and will then cancel and so the sky plus box wont work then.

I can record onto my DVD recorder, either disc or hard drive, but i would have to record the programme I was watching.

  • If you only have room for one wire on the Sky dish, then you could get a multi way LNB (the thing that the wires go on) and replace it, then you could run another cable from that. Beware though, not sure if this would require re-alignment which can be tricky!
