  • How about a magazine? Fairy cheap and will take up a decent amount of space, and it's handy to have something to keep you entertained on xmas day in between opening presents and eating!

  • Also have a mooch on the Grabbits board. Lots of great bits and pieces on there at the moment. But I second what the op said about b&m and home bargains. They have some gorgeous (bulky) ;) toiletry sets, boxes of chocs etc that a 17 yo would adore.

I cannot go in these 2 shops though. I always end up buying things I don't need and always come out without the 1 thing I went in for :rotfl:
  • This is a bit late but my DD is 15 and I am filling her stocking with toiletries ( bodyspray, shampoo/conditioner that she would normally not get using Boots voucher, bathbomb for a xmas lazy bath treat, sachets of facemasks etc) , I-D magazine, New Art Journal & Journal prompts(printed from an idea on the internet)with some stickers, matchbox covers, pens, charcoals etc to get her creative, some silly bits from Poundland ( eyelashes, a new brush as she's always stealing ours etc), sweeties. Our spending limit was £20 on the stocking and it is overflowing.

Definitely check out poundland for baking bits- there's some lovely things there.

I am going to TOTALLY cheat with 1 item tho :o, I got some silicon baking stuff from poundland, i am going to use the tiny shaped ones to make some choccies for her then carefully put the silicon things back in the pack and put it in the stocking.........she'll never know :rotfl::rotfl::o...............oh well it's all about money saving :A.

    Thanks

if you have Hawkins Bazzar http://www.hawkin.com/ anywhere near you they have lots of retro bits and bobs that would be good as stocking fillers.

wish my mum still did me a stocking! but it stopped at 17 :(

  • Im 31 with two kids of my own and still get a stocking filled by mum (its the same stocking ive had since i was 2 - how very OS/MSE of her lol) and she always puts very useful things in - nail varnish remover, deoderant, shampoo, the hair dye i use and i always love that. she always also puts in an orange and a £1 which she has done every year since i was small. Since i moved out 11 years ago she has always put in a wee sewing kit too which is a private joke as i never ever use them. Its one of my fave christmas traditions. i always love to see whats in my stocking even more than my actual present. xoxo

Got carried away down memeroy lane there but back to the original post i think lots of practical toiletries, make up etc is the way to go which can be picked up fairly cheaply

    :D
