newbie mom =)

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie mom here and would like to share money saving presents and would ask for some suggestions as well . Every Christmas I'm giving our relatives my own baked cookies wrapped in a fancy can or box. Last Christmas I made ice cream with their choice of flavor. They're a lot easier to make and they are made with love.. :) this Christmas Im wondering what would be my homemade gift to my loved ones:
a. Christmas choco lollipops
b. knitted mittens
c. just go with the cookies again?
:) thank you, as soon as I get suggestions, I will start purchasing all the needed materials or ingredients so I can then think about what to give to my husband :)

  • Hi,

if your husband likes it hot, then he will enjoy this, makes about 6 wee jars, you can do them up with labels and fancy tops, if inclined.

    Chilli Jam hot-chilli-preview.jpg

3 pkts bird eye chilli (Morrisons)
    6 can chopped tomatoes
    1 bulb garlic
    10 tbls sugar
    10 tbls cider/white wine vinegar

Wash chilli and remove tops, chop chilli (use the seeds) and garlic, blend with ½ can tomatoes.

Put sugar and vinegar in pot on low heat and stir until dissolved, add rest of ingredients and simmer until reduced to a jammy thickness, (takes a bit of time) cool a bit then put in jars, ready to enjoy when cool.

Next time simply adjust ingredients for hotness, sweetness, or to make bigger quantity, if you like it crunchy put some raw red onion after cooking, but before totally cool.
  • That sounds an ideal gift for my brother so thank you! Does it keep like ordinary jam? BTW Lidl had cheap chillies the other day. [Or grow your own next year!;)]
