Small Tools Allowance

in Cutting tax
Hello
Inland revenue agreed an £80 tools allowance for my husband.
He is employed but has to provide own tools. I can not remember how to claim - does this come off the tax return or should HMRC adjust the tax code?
Also, what happens when you no longer do a tax return? He is doing for 09/10 as we had a rental property and will have to do one for 10/11 but after that he will be tax return free (yippee!).
thanks

If he completes a tax return, he includes the £80 under expenses on the employment pages. If he no longer SA's., he just needs to ring his tax office and ask them to include it in his code.0
