Hi everyone,
This is my first post so be gentle!
Basically, my credit scoring is appalling due to being careless in my younger years and also my recent ex got me\left me in a financial mess, without a car although I am slowly picking myself back up.
I have been without a car for 3 months now and it is proving very difficult, especially with the weather, my work is not on a bus route and there isn't anyone who lives near me to expect a lift from them so I was looking to get a cheap runaround, about £500. Thing is, I can't afford that in one lump sum and have had a quote from Provident at £15 a week for 52 weeks, which is ideal.
My question is, do they accept anyone? I have defaulted in the past but never had a CCJ and have a debt management plan with Payplan. I have tried normal car finance/bank loans, to no avail so this really is my last hope. I have tried friends and family and no one can help, nor should I expect them to really.
The high interest doesn't bother me, I have let things get this way so I will literally pay the price. I have had such a horrible past 6 months and am trying so hard to pick myself back up. I know these doorstep loans aren't ideal but I really have been left with no choice. I don't feel safe walking the streets at night, I hate constantly having to beg for lifts, I just want my independence back and to make a fresh start from the mess my ex left me in.
Hope you can help.

That is good to know, thank you.
Do they need proof of income etc? How long does it take to process? I applied online and it said they would contact me within 2 days but I really do want to get myself sorted before Christmas as I am staying with family across town and can't rely on public transport over the festive period and my parents don't drive either. I am never getting in a relationship again after this, my life is ruined.0 -
could you try your local credit union? They might be able to help you and should offer a better interest rate.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0

How do I go about that and is there a limit on what you can borrow?0

It varies for different credit unions, best to find your local one & check

Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten0 -
This site is also worth looking at, tho it doesn't include all the credit unions yet
