I always pay all my tax on time, in full - and spend hours meticulously inspecting my annual tax returns to ensure I have got it 100% correct.
And still.... the sight of one of those brown envelopes terrifies me.... I shove them away, hide them ..... daren't open them. Then, months later, I open them and find (like today's one that I did open) that, yet again, they're just a bl00dy reminder of the due date.

He had a limited company, but sadly I've no idea of the full facts regarding what the estimates are for. I will confront him about all of this soon, just need to get some advice first!I don't quite follow. Did your friend have a limited company of which he was/is a director? And exactly what have HMRC raised their estimates for; tax on him as a self-employed person, PAYE on his limited company, VAT on him as a self-employed person or VAT on his limited company, or corporation tax on the limited company?
It shows as dissolved in Companies House. I don't really know if this means everything is resolved on the company side of things or not. When you say the company is dissolved do you mean that it's shown as dissolved on the company register or that it's simply ceased to trade?0
