http://www.expansys.com/asus-eeepc-700sdx-netbook-linux-black-800mhz-512mb-4gb-ssd-7-205458/ £99 and can be set up with web browser, skype and a few photos (but keep most of them on an external drive/thumb stick). Hows that?

Well it didnt die, just been having problems with the power connection for a couple of months, not registering that its charging etc, then last night the plug in the laptop bit got very hot and melted the cable and the end broke off, sourced a new power lead for £20 but decide not to buy as the same could happen again, the bloke said the charger unit was broke, dont really wont to through good money on mending it as its been playing up, going slow etc for a while, its about 4yo give or take.

Dont really want a netbook as screen to small., Thanks.

    Hi,

I would think so, you are still getting a year warranty, they class them as refurbs, but may just be returns, or ex display.

Have a look at this thread.

My daughter got an argos refurb off ebay and is well satisfied with it. The warranty is just the same as buying a new one at an argos shop. I got a refurb netbook and again I am really pleased - the only disadvantage I can find is that the battery on my netbook has had a little use and so doesn't hold it's charge so well but that's not a problem as I mainly use it at home.
Incidentally I find screens on netbooks a little bit limiting.

  • Ok, I would go for an Acer because that will give you most value for money.

I would also check out amazon reviews even if you don't intend to buy from there because you may end up making an expensive mistake.

The minimum you want really is 2GB RAM & a Dual Core processor.
