Anyone tried Hypnotherapy for Quitting smoking

Have you tried it? did it work for you?
Did you do self Hypnotherapy and if it worked what was the CD you used.

If you saw a hypnotherapist and it worked, can you reccommend them?

The largest ever survey put hypnotherapy at no 2. The only thing that beat it was being admitted to hospital with cancer or a heart attack?

Hypnosis cannot make someone do what they would not do 'naturally'.

The big, deep question you need to ask yourself is do you WANT to stop smoking?

If you do, then hypnosis can really help. If you don't (If it's just other people getting on your back) then it will fail.

I gave up 15 yrs ago. When my wife fell pregnant.

I knew that I would never want my child to catch me smoking, and I gave up - just like that. I had a GOOD reason, I REALLY wanted to, and it was easy.

Before that though, I'd tried and failed many times. I'm sure the bottom line was that I didn't really WANT to before then.

Good luck with it. You'll feel soooooooo good if you succeed! :D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Yep, I used Hypnotherapy to quit smoking about 15 years ago. It worked for 3 years, but then sadly my marriage broke up and I started smoking again (almost as a "F you" to my ex-huz, very childish of me!!!)

Then about 6 years ago I had to have a tumor removed from my breast... and although I did continue smoking through treatment (I felt I "needed" my crutch at that time) as soon as I finished treatment I quit and haven't touched a cigarette since.

I do feel they hypno worked and I just wish I hadn't started it up again, very stupid thing for me to have done but totally my own doing!

No I've not tried it but I did try chewing gum & patches which did absolutely nothing for me at all. I didn't smoke for 6 months but I craved a fag every day of that 6 months, it was a living hell. I think it was because my husband & Mom kept going on & on at me to stop & I didn't really want to. Then I too was diagnosed with breast cancer. I quit on 19/1/2009 & I've been absolutely fine since. In fact I can't imagine why I ever smoked now. I quit this time by attending a weekly group at my local Health Centre & I used the nicorette inhalator. This worked for me I think as I still needed the hand to mouth thing that you get from smoking. If I can do it anyone can. There's a very supportive group on here for people truing to quit smoking. Good Luck!

A former neighbour of mine made me laugh. He told me he was going to see a hypnotherapist to quit smoking and I wished him luck. He was a chain smoker poor guy.

I didn't see him for a week or so and he told me he'd saved about £300 I said "blimey, that's brilliant" and then he explained that he'd saved it by declining her offer of going for another 6 sessions. :D

    That's so funny!

I gave up on 31st dec 2010. 3 days later was struggling with the urge. Gad acupuncture from a Chinese herbalist & no longer have the urge.

i had hypnotherapy to quit smoking, and it worked!

Had it about eight years ago. It cost 50 pounds which was a load of money for me to scrape together. I had to go to a venue, pay my money and sit in the audience of about 200 other people who had all paid 50 quid. All I could think was 'what a con, this'll never work' Anyway the guy, forget his name spoke from a stage for about an hour then did this 'group hypnosis' on the whole audience, the whole time I was thinking yeah yeah yeah!

I had had the last fag in my packet on my way there, so when I came out I just thought, I won't buy any more, I'll just see how it goes...And I never smoked again!

Can't say if it was the hypnotherapy, but that's what I put it down to. Now I feel I could never go back to smoking, but it took me a few years to feel like this.
