Hey guys,
It's been a while since I last posted. Things have been tough and even though I'm now discharged, I'm still struggling to get back on my feet.
On a positive note, I have an interview soon for a job that I really really really want. :j However, I can't stop worrying about the threat of a credit check.
It's for an Engineering position that does not involve financial handling/responsibilities of any sort. I'm not even sure if the company credit checks it's engineers but I'm to scared to call HR and ask!!
What do you guys think?

I don't expect they will, but if its on your mind, then ring and ask .....you don't have to tell them whyGetting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

Could you call "anonymously" or get a friend or relative to call - they could just say they are enquiring about the position and wanted to clarify a few things...throw in a few other questions just for good measure

On the other hand - it's not worth giving up a good opportunity just for the worry of it! Just go to the interview and do your best to shine

I have thought about it but I'm just worried that they'll be able to work out who I am! I know that's probably the easiest way to go about it though.
Has anyone ever had a credit check for a job that wasn't anything financially related?0 -
GoingForBroke, rest assured I have never had a credit check done for any job I have applied for. Hope that puts your mind at rest. If not can can ask a friend or family member of the opposite sex (just so it is even harder for you to be identifyed) ring up with a series of questions including the one regarding credit check.

You wouldn't even have to tell them your name - just inquire anonymously to ease your mind at least

It would be very rare for them to do a credit check. Even when I worked in banking they weren't exactly diligent. If they do check it's normally to confirm identity and no history of fraud.0

Thanks guys, taking all points of view on board!

If they do a check to verify identity, does that mean they'll also find out about the BR?0 -
Good luck for the job and try not to worry about a credit check - be positive!

I have to agree with JMV. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I doubt very much it will be an issue, so don't give up on a good opportunity for fear of the unknown!
Best of luck, hope you get the job.

I agree with Angie and JMV.
Bankruptcy doesnt hold the same stigma as it did years gone by
we tend to be harder on ourselves than we should!!!
It is a fresh/new start! Just go sell yourself now and I hope you get the job!
Good luck
