Parking Ticket Fine or not?

I live in edinburgh....we have very active parking wardens.

So I parked on a single yellow this morning to pop to the cash machine on my way to work and as I was going back to the car I noticed a warden had pulled up on his moped and was getting out his wee machine. I got into my car and drove off - not sure if he was in the process of ticketing me or not. I don't think he had been there long.

So can they post out a ticket to you? Do they need to have completed the ticket and taken a photo?

This is a £30 fine I really don't need.

My son was spotted driving my car without wearing a seatbelt. He wasn't stopped, he was driving down the main street. I got a letter a couple of weeks later from the police saying that someone driving my car had been spotted wearing no seat belt. I didn't get a fine, just a warning.

Maybe if your car wasn't actually ticketed then they can't do anything.

Someone with whom I worked received a letter from the police after being stopped for speeding but as the Policeman forgot to take a note of the registration number they could not prosecute. :rotfl:

Crossing my fingers for you, maybe it's the same thing if the Warden was only getting out his machine. :o If you pardon the expresssion.

Went to Edinburgh this summer for the first time. Nice place. I like the way there was lots of whisky tasting.:D

If its council, then nothing can happen (They must serve the notice). If it is a police traffic warden, they can do you through post...
  • I agree with dap they cannot fine you without the ticket on your car.

A wee fyi for people I got ticketed a few months back same story stopped for the cash machine, They ticketed me however the printer didnt print out how much I was to pay eg You must pay £30 by 14th Nov it said you must pay£0,00 by the 14th nov I appealed as I believe this would have been admissable in court! Cause I could have sent a cheque for £0.00

Glasgow City council sent me a wee letter saying we'll let you off however this does not set precidence! (spelling error?) I won yes!

    Hi
Im from edinburgh too:beer: and the wardens are a nightmare

if it was a double yellow it would be a clear cut parking fine but i think you ll be ok on single yellows as long as you never created a hazard by being parked where you were.....they do give a little lee way os singles and knowing the edinburgh mob he would have taken great delight in lecturing you before you drove away anyway if he was going to ticket you....i think your ok:j
