Argos Managers at it?

Took up the offer of the 02 mobile with free mp3 player and free bluetooth and reserved it online yesderday for collection today. (printed all the documentation)

Woke up today and looked at the deal again online and the bluetooth had been removed, phoned customer sevice and was told that as long as i had the print out that it would still get honoured instore.

Of i plods in (9miles trek) girl at counter said i could only be offered one or the other, i said it clearly states both.
She went away and came back and said sorry, it's one or the other!
I was going red, queue was tailed back (only 1 staff on in an extra store)

Not happy , off she goes and gets store manager, she then said i could only either take the mp3 or the bluetooth, she said it was up to the managers discretion and she would only give me one or the other!
I refused the sale and returned home.

Picked up phone and was told once again by CS that they should have honoured me what was on the documentation (mobile, mp3 and bluetooth).
She said to forward on the documents at an email she provided.

Coming off the phone i though, why should i go through the hastle of typing out what went off when the manager had already saw the documents, i then picked up the phone and called them back, a different girl answered, i explained once again, her words wer 'Crap!, that is absolutely nonsence, it is not up to the managers discretion and i don't understand why they keep saying that, they don't have the authority and it makes me mad the amount of calls i get about this!'
While i was on the phone waiting she called the branch, she came back on and said the manager is now off duty but she had spoke with the stock manager, he was also furious as he overheard while i was in earlier!, he told me to pop in tonight and collect the goods that i was due!!

Who is right and who is wrong?

I would say that the call centre has more authority as they are acting on behalf of the Head Office. Don't forget to claim your mileage back from them tsk tsk.

Just back, got all the goods including a £10 gift card, should have been £5.

3 staff members plus store manager all agreed Manager was in the wrong!

Never listen to an instore manager again!

Sounds like normal - Cutting costs to the bone. I bet HO are telling them they are 10% overstaffed or some b*l*x like that.

Always love this debate at work, so an 18 year old who has a weeks training can overrule a manager who has worked in retail for 15 years (not me). Oh boy does this cause some arguments down the phone!

Don't give up on instore managers, most are great!( or at least good) With all the sh*t they get from HO they have to be.
