Hospital orthodontists will not do any private treatment eg adult orthodontics at the hospital. They may very well if they work sessions elsewhere.

Have you phoned up your local orthodontist, I haven't heard of a waiting list for private treatment .

Orthodontic treatment usually takes around 18 months and you usually visit every 4 to 6 weeks for new retainers or adjustments to the brace. Therefore if you are travelling further afield I would think about this.

The problem with some of the "chains" of orthodontic practices is they were set up by companies to clear the NHS backlog. Many have one specialist orthodontist and then the rest are dentists who are not additionally trained. This has caused problems in the area I work (not orthoworld, another company, I know nothing about orthoworld personally). I would check carefully the experience of who I was actually seeing if I went down this route.
