This is just stupid on so many levels;
- He'll still sell the same number of records whether he's number one or two.
- All the hue and cry is the best publicity Simon could hope for, is that what you intended?
- Simon's a British guy doing well internationally. Why do so many people in this country want to attack our successful people, at the same time as hero-worshipping evil people like Raoul Moat.
If you really want to do something positive then put the money you would have spent on this drivel in a Charity Collection Tin.
Sorry to rant.

I dont like the fact that whoever wins xfactor gets no1 no matter what they sing, and i like the fact that others want to waste there money on a song that can be got for free to stop them. But like has been said before.

I have some free downloads due me from drinking so much Becks (hic) so will gift this to several of my friends. To the poster who said Cowell doesn't worry about stuff like this, I think you are so wrong. He's like a child when he doesn't get his own way (it was clear from his 'Scowell' on Sunday night that he wanted to take Rebecca/ One Direction with him as the UK winner to help launch US X factor, certainly not the alleged 'painter and decorator' who went to a £15,000/yr public school, lol). Cowell is the ultimate bad loser, can't stand losing anything. Let's add to his 'Matt isn't the winner I wanted' misery by denying him what he seems to think is his god given right to the Xmas number 1.0

So pleased this campaign failed:T 'Surfin Bird' fell from #3 to #41 this week while Matt remains at #1 with a further 299,096 sales bringing his 2 week total to almost 800,000:D:dance:Quidco Payments In 2011 - £724.21 :dance:

If he's going to be a success even short term (Cowell just doesn't 'do' long term, does he?) they need to forget this nonsense of keeping the winner under wraps for 12 months then release the debut CD just as his fans have got themselves a new fixation with the current X Factor crop. The only one this strategy has worked for is Leona Lewis, but to be fair it wasn't really Cowell who masterminded her assault on our senses, it was the legendary Clive Davis (and the debut single was an absolute killer tune, the quality of which she hasn't got remotely near to since). I genuinely can't see any US svengali latching onto Matt, but we'll see.0

Why would anyone care what song gets to number one? If the charts are so bad that an amateur song from a reality TV programme would get to number one without a "viral campaign"... then isn't it obvious that the pop charts are rubbish and not worth caring about?
And how much profit does the person who thought up this campaign get? It's not Simon Cowell is it? It would by both amusing and tragic if people are throwing money at him by buying Bird is the Word to counteract the effect of... people throwing money at him to buy whatever his reality TV programme is releasing!
If I said I was compiling a list of the most popular meat sold by my butcher friend, and it looked like Spam was going to be number one... Would you really start throwing money at him and start buying tripe and offal keep Spam off the top? I never realised conning the public was so easy...0
