Can someone help me understand IKEA measurements?

We need a small dining table that can seat 4 (doesn't matter if we are clashing elbows a bit), and it needs to take up even less space when we're not using it.

This might fit the bill but I can't figure out the measurements:

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90116845

Scroll to the bottom and under "Assembled size" you get:

Length: 70 cm
Min. length: 50 cm
Max. length: 90 cm
Width: 90 cm
Height: 74 cm

Which dimension refers to what? Think about it and you'll see it doesn't make a lot of sense. Has anyone got one they could measure?

Think it depends if you have the leaves out or not

From the description: Dining table with 2 pull-out leaves seats 1-2; makes it possible to adjust the table size according to need

On a standard table of that construction , you would need to pull both leaves out and centre section would drop the depth of the wood. But in this case you have the centre section fixed and the option to pull one leaf out OR pull both leaves out to create max size.

Thanks for the replies so far but perhaps I should be more specific about what it is I am finding confusing.

If "width: 90cm" refers to the dimension of the non-extending side, and min and max length refer to the other side (with leaves closed and open respectively), what does the other "length: 70cm" refer to?

Forgetting the 90cms which is fixed
    We have 50 /70 /90 length
50 Is closed . 70 with one leaf and 90 with two leaves out

Its not crystal clear, lost something in translation??
  • I think 50 cm is length with no leaves pulled out, 70cm is length with 1 leaf out and 90 with both out.

I've seen these tables in store and think you'd struggle to get 4 around it as there isn't enough space to get a person between the legs IYSWIM

Yeah I suppose 70cm being with one leaf open is the only thing that makes sense but they've written it in a very stupid way.
