No problems with both sites at my end using Kaspersky internet security 2006 (latest sigs) you may be getting false readings particularly as I no grc.com are a good source and Browntoa is good on security.0

EDIT I see you removed one post snagglepuss that mentioned malware W32/new-malware!Maximus that biddy79uk posted.
Hi Poppycat I removed the other post as I used a quote from biddy's post by mistake. I am using pc guard at the moment and had to delete two files which were infected with the above named malaware after I clicked on browntoas link so I just thought I need warn others just in case. After all better safe than sorry as I am sure you will agree.I have edited my other post as you say browwntoa is good on security he must have checked it out but it definately infected my system...Whenever I'm caught between two evils, I take the one I've never tried......0 -

Thanks browntoa, I will look into my security but this has never happened before and even when I tried again the same thing happened cheers Snagglepuss
Edit:- I only posted in LARGE RED because I genuinley believed there was a problem and wanted to warn people but I am not sure why you did the same in your reply? I shall however remove the post if you would like me to but it was nothing personal...Whenever I'm caught between two evils, I take the one I've never tried......0 -

quote:-
Steve Gibson's site - Shield's UP! has released a prog that simulates a trojan on your PC to test your firewall, called LeakTest....
http://grc.com/su-leaktest.htm
quote:
LeakTest is a safe and small (less than 30k bytes), completely benign "chameleon utility" which can be used to simulate the presence and effect of Trojan horses, viruses, and adware/spyware running in your computer. It simply and quickly tells you whether it has been able to slip out past your firewall's outbound Trojan/Virus/Spyware protections and establish a standard TCP connection with our NanoProbe server.
It can be had here: http://grc.com/files/leaktest.exe
seems that under certain conditions there may be a false positive of a trojan....but its a symtom of how the software tests your firewallEx forum ambassador

I made a genuine mistake and I offered to remove my post I also have been polite so what is your problem ? OMG have I hurt your feelings or something? for goodness sake even if you had made a mistake it would not have been the end of the world. It is no wonder people are afraid to post on these boards.....!Whenever I'm caught between two evils, I take the one I've never tried......0

I did'nt like the assupmtion that iI would post a link to a site that caused an infection...I'll re edit my posts but i don't think i over reacted
maybe a better reply would have been to ask if there was a problem rather than post in big letters that the infection was my faultEx forum ambassador

As I said I was only trying to help and perhaps I acted too quickly but if I had been right then it would have been justified however I do see your point and hope you see mine too Browntoa. I shall remove the post regards JoWhenever I'm caught between two evils, I take the one I've never tried......0
