Handmade Soap question

Hello one and all,
I have been totally insipred by all the amazing hand made gifts and crafts that have appeard on this forum. You are all very talented!
When I was younger I had a melt and pour soap making kit but dont really remember doing anything with it! After reading the forums I started thinking about taking this hobby up and have been looking online for tutorials and where to buy supplies.
I noticed that the american sites and tutorials talk about using 'Rubbing Alcohol' which helps keep different layers of soap together and helps to stop any bubbles forming on the surface. I havent noticed anything like this being mentioned on the UK sites so I was wondering if anyone does or doesnt use this when they are making melt and pour soap.
Many Thanks
Sarah

rubbing alcohol is surgical spirit
you get it at any chemist
it will disperse the bubbles
if you are using more than one layer of soap, wait until the first soap is almost set, but still warm
spritz with the surgical spirit, and pour your 2nd layer, but wait until your 2nd soap is below 50 degrees or it will met & mix with your first layer
but if you dont pour it soon enough it wont adhere together
and do not put it in the fridge to speed up setting
as they are both different consistancies now, they will split0 -
Thank you for your help.
I was thinking about possibly making and selling soap alongside my handmade cards, however I have been looking into the legislation and it seems like it will be quite pricy to have everything all tested and approved. So I will stick with making it for friends and family and see how I get on before making any sort of attempt to sell it.
