Scrunching hair?

What's the best method when it comes to scrunching hair? I used to straighten mine every day but I've got terrible split ends and need to give my hair a break. It's got a natural wave to it so I've simply been washing it and letting it dry naturally, then once dry using some beachy wave spray or some styling wax to scrunch it some more with my fingers, and finish with hair spray.
The problem I'm having is it's still a bit too frizzy looking for my liking, and with all the extra product I'm using I feel it needs washing every day. It also goes a bit flat after a night's sleep.
Any tips would be gratefully received!

aussie have a nice curling serum thing (so i'm rubbish at names!). i get less frizz when i use a diffuser on my hairdryer, but even when i go to the hairdryers, it'll only last 2 days max before sleeping on it makes it go completely fizz-mad! i think some kind of serum on the wet hair will make a difference.:happyhear0

Thanks both, I'll check out those products!
I have layers but I haven't been a hairdressers in ages (just been asking mum nicely to give me a trim from time to time!) so I should probably get them tidied up already.
I usually wash my hair every other day so if it lasts two nights without the frizzies I'll be happy
I've just given in and washed my hair so am trying very hard not to play with it too much this time- I imagine my constant tweaking had something to do with the frizz and the greasy mop I woke up to this morning :eek:0 -
sometimes when i have no hair products in i use just a drop of baby oil it acts a bit like a serum0

might not be for you, but i have mid length hair. after a shower norm at night i dry my roots put a little serum through, put in two plaits and sleep like that then in morning i scrunch with a little mousse. Then i just straighten/sweep over or pin back my fringe. xmum to; Two Boys (Non id twins)Two Girls (Id twins)0

Thanks for your comments
I got some of the Boots Curl Creme with my points (very MSE!) I'll try it out tonight after a shower. If it's not right you've given me plenty of other products to dry and I already have some baby oil handy!
mum2twinsx2, will definitely try the plaits tonight too, thanks for the tip!0
