LOL trading tech for a dog - where will it all end? :D

Most iPad users (80%+) never take them out of the home, so assuming you have a wireless broadband connection and you don't take it out then don't bother with 3G (£100) saved. (Even if out you could use a wireless hotspot of get a £60 MiFi if you eventually need it).

Then it comes down to how much storage you need. Using at home its probably possible to get by on 16Gb (just bought one yesterday) but practically the 32Gb will be better. The 64Gb seems overkill as your OH will stream his content from the 'net or one of his Macs.

Where to buy? Well Apple is always best except for price. ATM TK Maxx have the 16 & 32Gb (non 3G) models in for £329 and £399, limited stocks but you may be lucky. Otherwise the next cheapest is buying online from Best Buy via Quidco thus getting 14.89% off the retail price.

(Of course like any Apple lover when he's got this he'll want an Apple TV2 - cheapest at Best Buy ;) )

The iPad will be the hottest item this Xmas so I hope that helps and that you find stock

  • I believe viking direct had them pretty cheap as well (but note they show price excluding VAT) and you usually get a small freebie as well (usually chocolates when spend over £30).

It was a pricing error so now its the usual 8% off. However you can choose either the business site or the personal which is the same except it shows VAT.

i was told (dont know how true it is) that there are going to be significant price drops on the Ipads after christmas so it may be worth waiting if u can
When you know better you do better
  • Honestly, there have never been or will be significant price drops on any Apple kit, it goes along with the fact they (Black Friday aside) never hold a sale. If you want to save ~15% then buy them from the Apple refurb store or Best Buy via Quidco.
