IT Project Manager - Supplier or Internal Based?

Hi,
I have been trying to find an IT Job's related forum for this discussion without any luck - does such a thing exist?
Anyway - I am thinking of changing jobs - from being a project manager (in the IT sector) for a consultancy - to playing a similar role but for an internal IT department (within the retail sector.)
I can see many differences between these two roles - as a supplier, I can push back on the clients on things like changes in scope. This is something I imagine would be more difficult when dealing with an internal client.
Does anyone have any views on this - or can anyone point me to where there are dedicated forums to discuss these differences?
Thanks!

If you don't control the scope of a project properly you will be asked to add features and it will go over time and/or budget. This should be controlled as much for an internal customer as for an external one.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

Agree, scope creep is the last thing you want! It's not difficult to manage, just a firm "no" usually does the trick.553780080
