Cheap Cookshop - Online or Local

I'm getting interested in making preserves and a lot of old style cooking practices and I was wondering if anyone knew of any particularly inexpensive cookshops online or in the London area (or anywhere else - I'm sure it'll be useful for someone else too). I’ve had a look around the site and a number are mentioned but not their respective merits!
I’m particularly interested in ones that cover decent basic items I think most people need rather than gadgety stuff.
Any ideas anyone. And any idea where on earth I can get muslin from?:D

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

This one is good for basic items and they sell muslin too:

Pots and pans is another good online cookshop (more 'upmarket' brands than the one above) and amazon has quite a good range of stuff too.

Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.0
