in Cutting tax
Hi I'm very new to the forum.
I'm a little confused about whether or not I can apply for a tax refund/rebate or whatever, on my new job.
I earn just over £12k a year (following tax), I live with my parents, I don't own any property and I don't have any assets. I'm also under 30 (don't know if that's relevant!)
Could someone please tell me, in layman's terms, if and how I can claim a refund on tax deducted from my wages? I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thanks! :rotfl:

As jem16 says we need you tax code. Your net pay is no indication of anything as what you receive in your hand is totally down to the tax code operated by your employer.
Your tax free personal allowance as someone under 65 years of age is £6475 (10/11) and that usually equates to a code of 647L. That is unless you have additional allowances or deductions included in your code.
Allowances would include professional subscriptions
Deduction would include taxable benefits such as Incapacity Benefit, car and fuel benefits for having a companuy car or medical benefits. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If the OP is working and on PAYE surely any tax refund would be sorted through his salary.
OP what makes you think that you are entitled to a tax refund.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
