Hi all

Just wanted to warn you that the food chopper Nicer Dicer is not all that it seems.

http://www.jmldirect.com/Nicer-Dicer-PN0421/

I tried one last night- i peeled a small onion and popped it in. I pushed down on the lever. The unit shattered and cut my finger- the onion however was intact.

Bleeding, I decided that it would be safer to resort to using a knife to chop the onion.

Not sure if I should have chopped the onion prior to putting it in- kinda defeats the point though. The box shows a whole red onion being chopped and the instruction booklet is in spanish- the photos in it are too low resolution to be able to see anything.

My advice- spend your money on a cow- on the way to the market swap it for magic beans. Don't waste your money on this crap.

    Sounds like a defective product.

They do take a bit of force to chop the ingredients up.

I got bored of mine with heavy force and cleaning!!! A knife is the ticket. I liked the idea of having everything the same size though.

Remember the auto chopper from years ago??? They took a bit of a whack!!
  • I used mine once and got rid of it - the blades aren't really sharp enough to cut thruogh things cleanly and the amount of effort needed to push down put way too much stress on my wrists which are already full of arthritis.

Rubbish invention - wouldn't recommend to anyone.

  • It seems that the one i used was one of the fake ones- the JML ones have a good rep.

The JML ones don't have spanish instruction booklets- bit of a give away I guess
  • Where there's a blame, there's a claim!
  • But seriously, OP, where did you buy it?
  • The mother picked it up whilst in Hounslow.

Will try to find out the store name and post back

Watch out for these peeler things as well.

They are great for anything that you can keep your fingers out of the way like carots and parsnips etc. But the first time I tried it out on spuds I took a shaving off the tips of my fingers. Very painful!

    They are very sharp!

  • Hi Gazfaz,

Yep the mudder picked up one of those at the same time- I tried it on a carrot. You need to apply so much pressure that that i decided to bin it.
