Ok,
Movies - Yes I've seen the free trials but I'm dubious about having to remember to cancel them in time.
I don't think I can get NTL where I am. Plus I'm on 12 months contract with broadband and I may be about to move so I don't want to move over to any new contracts for things. I will double-check if it's available and work out the costs though just in case.
Quidco - I usually use linemypocket for the ocassional online buy, are quidco better?
Unsecured stuff - The rates are a bit tricky as each card has a mixture of purchases, transfers etc. I can't transfer to 0% - all are either suspended or at the limit. MBNA screwed me over a while ago - I paid back £5000 and had £302 lef ton the card. The next day the reduced my limit to £300, and slapped on an overlimit charge and loads of interest. I've only just managed to get it back to under £300. I really must get round to sorting out all my charge claims but I need to have a bit of spare cash and the time to do it.
By the way there used to be a 'Great ways to make a bit on the side hunt' here - I haven't been on for a while and I can't seem to find it. If anyone could point me to it that would be great.0 -
your BT is that monthly- only i thought line rental is about 11 pcm
Could you get your petrol at tescos then you will get clubcard points which you can use for your shopping?
the bit on the side hunt is pinned at the top of the mortgage free wannabee board:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I posted earlier about BT - it is about 11 pcm, I quoted the 3-monthly payment.
I could fill up at Tescos but on my normal daily route to/from work there isn't one and going out of my way by more than a couple of miles doesn't seem to work out as saving, although I didn't factor in clubcard points. I do get points from Powergen though which is good.
Thanks for the bit on the side info - I looked everywhere but there!0 -
A bit of an update - I'm having a telephone interview with Payplan on Sunday about a DMP as the best possible budget I could work out left us with £6 left over each month. I don't think it's going to mess up my credit rating any more than it is now, I'll stop the interest building up and might actually have a bit left over each month.
I will be thought about and discussed carefully before going ahead but I've had lots of sudden extra costs this month and I'm not going to be able to recover before the late payment fees etc start rolling in.
If I do go ahead with it I'm going to start my charges claims once it's all in place, and the money from these should help pay off even more of it.
We've got someone coming back for a second viewing on the flat on Saturday so if that ends up with a good offer we should have all our secured stuff paid off by say Jan/Feb and be living in a decent 2/3 bed house. The rent will be around £750 rather than the £935 we're currently paying on these. Of course we won't be paying anything off a mortgage but we can get back on our feet and then when we buy again in say a year's time we'll be even better off.
My ultimate aim is to move to the country and have a smallholding or at least something with enough land to be largely self-sufficient but I can't get close to that unless I've cleared all my debts.
More short-term, the car is definitely going in favour of a decent second-hand diesel and hopefully I can drum up a bit of website business or some technical writing.0 -
Ok, so I spoke to Paypal on Sunday.
Based on my current budget they can't do anything as on paper I have just enough to make my contractual obligations (minimum payments) on my unsecured debts every month and the companies wouldn't agree to reduced payment plans. In reality of course it's not the case. I can see their point though and they were very helpful. I might be able to do somethign by adding a few things on that I hadn't thought of, like car servicing.
MBNA are apparently being great about paying back charges at the moment, even in some cases calculatiing the interest for people so I will send off my DPA request for a list of all charges tomorrow.0
