Fridgidaire Slow Cooker

Does anyone have one of these, and if so are they any good? Saisbury has a 5.5 litre one at half-price (£19.99) and I am very tempted to buy. It would match my kitchen so well (stainless steel/black)! However, I have an old Tower one (cream/brown), which I think is 3 litre, which I use a lot and it works really well and has never let me down. Is it worth passing the old one on to someone else and buying the trendy coloured one? I am trying to persuade myself that if I buy it then it isn't really wasting money, it could be part of my Christmas and doing someone else a favour at the same time!

  • I don't have a frigidiare slow cooker but I thought you might be interested in my experiance. I recently bought a lovely looking 6.5 litre Rival slow cooker, this was on special offer and I had a voucher so I treated myself. Much more attractive than the old one.

Once I got this home I gave my very very old and ugly Tower slow cooker to my Mum and I now regret it. The new slow cooker has been renamed the fast cooker and on high it even comes to a rolling boil!!.

The old one was much better as you really could leave it all day (14 hours), to use the new one I have had buy a time clock so that I can delay when the cooker starts and only then can I leave this on all day. I have heard from other people on this board that newer slow cookers are really hot.

it even ruined some christmas puddings I put in it.

  • I have a Asdas slow cooker, sound exactly the same, £19.99 (always this price), oval, black/s steel, 5.5litres and loads of different settings and haven't had any problems. We are a family of four and I find this size to be just right, having said that if there was only two of us it would probably be too big. Having a bigger one does come in handy as you can batch cook & freeze and do larger joints and chickens in them so it does save you money.
