Overseas mortgage for self employed?

Hi,

Anyone on here self employed and managed to get a mortgage on an overseas property.

I'm newly self employed (last 9 months) and French banks seemingly won't even look at me until I've got 2 years worth of records.

Used to be employed in same profession (chartered accountant) but now contract - if I was applying for the mortgage when still employed 9 months ago would get it no probs.

Anyone have similar experiences and recomend any brokers worth talking to or know of any UK lenders that may be approachable.

Loan amount looking for is very small (50k) in Euros.

I doubt you'd find a UK lender who would lend to a short-term self-employed person buying a property in the UK.

So there's no chance of them doing so overseas, where it would be harder to track you down if you disappeared, would involve complying with laws in another land and would also overlay a foreign currency risk too.

As an ACA or a FCA your high street bank should be able to help.

Great thanks - what high street banks will lend for French properties as a google search didn't seem to find any?!
