I can't advise on how you should shop - I think different people find it works best in different ways, but there is a recipe on the forum for Twinks' hobnobs, which would be a healthy but filling (and tasty) snack for your OH.
Are you nuts??!! They have a slab of butter in each batch and the same amount of sugar!!!:eek:
But resistance is futile.....:D0 -

yup, my mum makes them.
probably the most fattening biscuits.
just because they have oats in them, doesnt counteract the fact they are full of butter, oil, sugar etc!!0 -
Ooo can i join this thread. Ive been trying so hard to keep my shopping bill down to £25 to £30 per week. The only one luxury i would like to add is a bottle of wine (which is normally a cheapy one). I will be looking at this thread with interest. Theres me and my adult son (who isnt always about). But i do need to include Breakfasts, Lunches for 7days and Dinners for at least 5 evenings and all toiletries. I wonder if this is do able. Im going to give it my best shot for 2011.0

chicken pie is another good one thats freezable. and to keep it slightly lower calories dont pastry the sides just do the top!

Can you not do Green days on SW and have carbs then? I live on carbs when I'm doing SW :rotfl:
Good luck

I'm doing SW too but I do Extra Easy then you can eat meat and carbs, so long as you have loads of fruit and veg too. I keep all my syns for wine at weekends:o and a bit of HM gravy with a roast so mostly I'm eating syn free meals. Personally, I prefer weekly shopping but with a big storecupboard/freezer (for offers etc) so I 'shop' from my stores each week before deciding what to buy/eat. It sounds like lots of the meals your OH likes are easily tweaked to be SW friendly . I'd suggest you plan a menu for a week (or a month whatever your preference) of SW friendly meals and be very strict with yourself just buy to your meal plan. DON'T let other things just slip in the trolley (unless they're heavily discounted and can be stored/frozen). Good Luck and Happy Christmas.0 -

You can use mash for the lid (like shepherds pie) and quiche is lovely on a bed of mash, very filling and great at this time of the year when hot, filling meals are needed (remember syn the cheese or HE).0 -
feel wrong eating sooo many carbs to be honest!!
cauliflower cheese, macaroni cheese...
meat balls
in theory i need 45 dinners a month-
6 spag bol, 6 shep pie
could buy two whole chickens and make chicken and spuds with the legs so thats 4 meals
the breasts can be two meals- will probs grill 2 and fry 2.
then the wings is one other meal.
can make 6 lasagnes
4 cauliflower cheese
5 quiches
4 chicken pies
6 casseroles
then may be lazy and get some chicken breasts and buy a bottle of curry sauce and make a couple portions of that.
also can make potato and sweet potato mash and freeze.
other meals can be egg and chips, jacket potato with tuna and cheese or beans, tuna pasta etc...0 -
