Help with a home made hamper please

Hello
Help, please!
I would like to make a food hamper for my parents, I did this last year too so are a little stuck for something different. They are not sweet-toothed people but do like very dark chocolate. My Mum makes loads of amazing chutney throughout the year, so it seems a little silly to make some for them.
So far I have thought I would do...
Dark chocolate mint truffles
Nigella's chilli jam
Oatcakes/Table water biscuits
After that I'm stuck! I may put a bottle of stags breath in for good measure too
Any help would be appreciated, unfortunately I'm on a rather tight budget to say the least.
Thank you x

What about some of those small bottles of wine, you can get 4 for £5 from Asda or Mossas. I made two hampers of 2 bottles & a box of hazelnut wafers from Aldi, total cost £3 each.
You can just add one bottle & use the rest for other gifts.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
Pookie - walking around Aldi or Lidl they have some lovely continental choices of cheeses and meats. Add in a couple of small jars of savoury chutneys/pickles, last year I got some jars of artichoke hearts in brine or something like that and they were great with cheese and cold meats. And I agree about the small botts of wine. Hope that helps. Billie xx:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0

Not strictly a hamper small item but taking the theme of cheese...biscuits ...chutney etc on ..why not buy a nice cheese board the fashion at the moment seems to be slate and there is quite a good jamie oliver one complete with a knife in sainsburys at the moment also part of the 3 for 2 gift range for £12.
There is also quite a good selection of small truckle style cheeses in morrisons and I think that they may start at about a pound eachfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Not silly ideas at all, thank you.
I might see if I can find a Works locally, they all seem to be passed over to tat shops
A selection of cheeses sounds great, as do the coffee and tea's. I think they've started drinking herbal teas recently - so might see what special ones I can get."Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

Ooops, I didn't see the other replies too, thank you. I'll have a look in morrisons and try and get to lidl for cheeses etc. The nearest aldi is miles away unfortunately
The list I added will all be homemade, so I think it'll be a good mix
Any home made ideas please?"Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

hi there
I intend to do the same for an eldery single uncle.
He has more jumpers and socks than he will ever wear!!!
I am going to include products that he buys regularly.
tinned peas, tinned fruit, special treats that he likes, cheese ....considering buying chicken fillets and individually freezing them for easy use. He lives not far away and this is practical for us.
I know I would love to receive a selection of items that I use all the time and a few special extras.
Hope this helps. I am sure your parents will love whatever you include as you have gone to so much bother to think what they would like.

Can your budget stretch to a bottle of Port you can get some supermarket own for around £6 a bottle. Then you could get some crackers, some brie etc. Do they have a cheese board? You can pick up a cheap one from places like Wilkos or pound shops.
I would suggest bogof's then get the things you need for you and the second item can go in the hamper. Why don't you google hampers and have a look at the hampers online to give you ideas.Don't Throw Food Away Challenge January 2012 - £0.17 / £10
