Individual packs for 99p
I haven't ever seen these Chinese lanterns so cheaply - particularly these ones which are made with bamboo rather than wire and so don't cause a hazzard to cattle like the wire ones can (and should never be used in rural areas because of that).
You can buy them online for around £10 + postage, but they are usually around £2.50 individually. They are great for a New Year celebration or birthday.
There was a big pile of them on the floor in my local 99p store (Ashford in Kent), but going quickly.
This is what they look like - it is exactly the same brand and wrapper - this Amazon seller has 3 x lanterns for £7.09 including shipping - maybe I missed a trick there, could have bought some to sell!

They've always been made with bamboo it's the wire across the bottom that is now fire-proof string. Not a bad price though!0

Manchester Evening News reported that Manchester Airport reckon these could distract pilots. Not exactly convinced of that myself. More likely to confuse stupid people into thinking they've seen a UFO.0

Biodegradable or not there is still a chance of fire if they land on a roof or get caught up in trees. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

A little boy had his face terribly burnt by one of these when it tipped up on him. Don't mean to sound patronising at all but please be careful if you're going to use them.0

They also vary in quality;some sky lanterns are better than others, I find the Bright Star Fireworks Sky Lanterns are better than many.0
