Thanks, I hope so, then again if thats the case I don't know what I've done so bad in the past because it must have been something terrible to explain the last 3 years of my life!

Just wanted to post to offer my support. Must be a dreadful time for you at the moment. Halifax attitude is dreadful, and you are only trying to sort out a bad situation you are in before it becomes worse. Don't listen to them, and continue talking to the CAB,CCCS, Payplan whatever and hopefully it won't take too long to resolve.

I can second other posters comments about some creditors being bullies. They will say to you things like they don't deal with CCCS, they won't consider DMPs for x months, etc. From experience they will also 'suggest' to you that you take out secured consolidation loans to pay off your debts - something they can't legally say to you - but they do!
Best advice is to call CCCS or Payplan - they deal with these people day in day out. They know the tricks that they use and they can reassure you. You will get hastle from them from time to time even if you do set up a DMP. I've been in a DMP for a couple of years and the first couple of months were terrible - but then settled down. Had a bit of a blip today with one of them - but on the whole not bad.
Hope things go well for you. It's easy to say, but don't let it affect you too much. You have to look after yourself and your family. I don't know how some of these people can sleep at night. I know that they have a job to do, but some of them are just so nasty, I'm sure that they really enjoy the suffering that they cause.0
