Fibre Optic Tree - help required

Brought my tree last year and it worked fine. This year I seem to have a problem, any advice would be much appreciated.
I have a fibre optic tree.. Plug the thing in and lights switch on nicely and the ends of the branches light up and change colour... Or they did until last week!
The main lights are working but the fibre optic lights on the ends of the branches ain't alight..
There's only x1 plug for the whole thing and that's working I guess cos the main lights are on - the problem seems to be with the fibre optic..
Any ideas anyone?

is the tree clicked in properly to the base ?
i know our fibre optic tree the tree itself comes off from the base ( the pot where the light is) if our tree ins't pushed in properly , although the lights are on the tree doesn't light up.0 -
Could it be that the coloured disc in the base is not rotating, which means they are not changing colour.0
