I really don't know where I should post this...
but what the !!!! does 'outwith' mean?
I keep seeing it when posters reply to others. But it doesn't make any sense. If you mean otherwise then !!!!!!!g write otherwise..
And if you know where I should post then please tell me...rant thread?

Like some of us have Scottish heritage, where we use outwith. England is outwith Scotland (as are all other places).If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

I use it in conversation a lot0 -
Whats the problem with "outwith"? Im confused. I hear it in everyday converstaion, and see no problemw ith it, Do you have issues with any other words? Im genuinely baffled!0

You are in Scotland which is why you regularly hear it. It's not used outwith Scotland.0 -

me too, I hadn't noticed it wasn't used outwith my home country.
goes to show there must be hunners an' thoosans o' us grippit Scots on here, well what do you expect, it's a moneysaving site.;)
make the most of the savings you find on MSE and you might be able to become honorary Scots too - noe you know the lingo!

I think it means "outside of", kind of "apart from" or "except" - is it a Scottish thing maybe? I'm Scottish and "outwith" doesn't sound odd to me.0 -
Well, I am currently "outwith" my normal sunny disposition, because of snowy madness, Mr T voucher fiasco and DH rabbit in headlights attitude to my christmas present xx
