    There was a "big" jump though in 2008 from 191L to 272L in 2009 and, from April this year, they've put me on 162T.

    What did your P2 coding notice for 2008 and 2009 say about the change of tax code?
    This jump from 2008 to 2009 would be in relation to the 810 increase in the personal allowance from 5225 to 6035. Difference of 81 between the 2 codes. 191 + 81 = 272
