            from the London 2012 site
"The official languages of the Olympic movement are English and French, and this site will shortly be available in French as well as English. Where French is not yet available, French users are taken to the English sections."

Because the founder of the Modern Olympic Games was French, and the Headquarters of the International Olympic Committee is located in Switzerland0 -

The French inaugurated the modern Olympics at the end of the nineteenth century, so French is the first language for the games.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

The first modern Olympics were held in Athens in 1896. Competitors attended as private individuals, not as representatives of countries. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Can't we have the official langauge as 'Franglais' instead? I used to enjoy those articles in Punch, all those years ago (my age is showing).
It could liven up the games no end, and probably annoy the French as well, so two positives already!
