I don't see how it wouldn't be legal. So long as you aren't harassing old ladies for their not-so-spare change.0

It looks like you'd be okay. If you were collecting money for charity you would need a licence though.

Not doing anything wrong, but some people don't people coming to their door, or get frightened. Maybe you could get involved in an organised carol singing event?0

the guides from our local church went carol singing last year, but before they did they choose the streets nearest the church and posted a small note through each door they'd call at, stating they'd be round on a certain date/time and any donations would be passed to the homeless centre in Manchester, they did okay, raised about £100 and was only out for 2hours over 2 nights.
Our drama group did it in a local shopping centre but we needed permission from the centre manager, we had buckets out & the money went to our local hospice.
If you was to do it why not get in touch with your local free paper & see if they can do a story - local family carol singing collecting for ??? Who knows you could raise loads.
Goodluck & have fun
Hope that helps?0 -
Please don't knock on my door it drives me up the wall. if I want singing I would hang around my local at chucking out time
When I am happy in my jim jams tree lit up with my family and someone knocks on my door so that all the heat goes out to sing to me out of tume I could scream!!!!!

Last year my aunt and uncle went Carolling around their area with their choir, but instead of knocking on doors, they stood on the street corners (how dodgy does that sound?!?! :rotfl: ) and people came to them - but mostly they just watched from their windows with their families, then just popped out to donate as they prepared to move along
It was lovely to see all the kids in their jammys looking warm and singing along to the ones they knew - plus there was no pressure on anyone and no heat escapedIt was helped by the fact that they live in a kind of "grid" system, so there were lots of corners to stand on

With school kids dragging bits of chalk around Ipswich town centre and making a total mess of the pavement last week, and apparently it being perfectly legal with teachers and police watching over, I'm entirely happy for you to go carol singing naked for I care.
World's gone mad. You can do what you want! :-) As if it matters.
Just do it
