Poundland often sell scapbooking things like little motifs that you can use so they are cheap.

Let Aston do cards for grannies and grandad so its more personal to them, and saves you doing some.

I wish I had made my own cards, it seems so much fun :j

If you don't want to buy any extras try going on microsoft download centre (google it) They have loads of templates, clip art, background etc and its all free. I've just printed off a christmas menu and invitation template, and some gift tags

Cut out and stick. Add glitetr, bows, sequins etc. Embrace your inner child. Also if you have used cards lying around cut them up and use bits of them, stick them to your plain cards.

I have been making all my cards for a number of years now. You will probably need to purchase a few bits & bobs. Argos have got some good starting sets, otherwise look at a site like 'cardcraftplus' who I like to order from. You may find an arts & craft shop in your local town or some garden centres have now got craft sections. Look on yell.com for whats around your local area. the best way to start with xmas cards is by purchasing a rubber stamp & a black ink pad. This way you can stamp all of your cards with the same stamp and maybe colour it in with coloured pencils or pens. This is probably one of the cheapest ways to start. You could then print off your computer some wording in and stick this to your cards. You could print this in a really fancy font and just cut them out. If you enjoy being crafting, start collecting. I ask all my friends & family to save me their cards. Quite alot of bought cards nowadays have a 'hand made look' and you can pinch or use the idea for your own cards with no cost involved.
Also, look on ebay. There are loads of bargains to be had there. Try the crafts beautiful website and others for ideas.

Get some nice photos of your child(ren) (Snapfish have a 30 free plus free p & P offer at the mo, see codes thread for details) & centre on the front of the card. Trim with a tied ribbion down the spine. Idiot proof HM cards for the non-crafty:D

  • It's worth having a look on hobbycraft.co.uk as they have a library of craft ideas including quite a few christmas cards - quite good for inspiration.
