PPI & Temporary Workers

Whilst i know this should be on the Loans board, was just after a little advice please.

After reading a thread (on Loans I think!) about Barclays PPI not covering temporary workers, I decided to challenge Baclays as my husband has the cover and was in temporary employment. Off we trundelled to the bank and after a lot of tooing and froing between the Branch Manager and a Personal Advisor was informed that no it does not cover temporary workers.

Long story short, we make a complaint, received a phone call about 2 hours later saying that it would have to be investigated but it did infact cover for death (expensive life cover!) then receive a letter today from Barclays saying that a woman (the one dealing with the complaint) has spoken to Dublin and have informed her that they do infact cover temporary workers.

Who do we believe, the branch, the phone or the letter!

you need to read the T&Cs very very carefully. as they say their PPI probably does cover you for death but what else so i guess they could claim that you are covered.

in any event i would suggest you cancel and ask for a refund of everything you have paid.

if you really think you need some sort of cover, get it independantly of CC providers.

We have read the t&c's and it states it covers for people in permanent employment, self employed and in fixed term contracts but nothing about temporary workers, which is why we went into the bank to clarify it.

My husband has just got of the phone to Barclays and she said that the branch should not have told us we weren't covered as there are exceptions. This to me sounds like a load of rubbish! We have sent the letter to Dublin but have had no response from them. We have requested it is in writing if we are covered.

They wont let us cancel. Well that's untrue, they've told us we have to reapply for another loan, which was offered to us at 19.9%. Me thinks not!
