Hi all,
It might take a wee while for it to sink in but I'm DEBT FREE:D
Date of LBM:On this occasion Nov 2011 - however I had cleared a previous debt on here a few years before and let it creep up again.
Debts at their highest:Probably around £8000 but I started my diary when I was at £5608.30
Debt free date:30/07/2013
Pearl of wisdom:For me it was updating my MSE diary especially when I got a bit spendy. Reading other peoples diaries was so motivational as we are all in the same boat:) and keeping a spending diary. Also Martin's mantra "Do I need it etc"
Forum threads that helped: Lots & Lots - thank you to everyone who popped into my diary or even just lurked and those that helped me in challenges. Special mention to some challenges - Debt free by Xmas, 100 day challenge and NSKs challenges.
So the plan now is to build a savings pot for lifes little eventualities and to try and make sure that I don't build up the debts again. Thank you all for your help:D
Superb effort Munchin - well done

Your one pearl of wisdom.
Just get a grip of yourself, it's no-one else's fault and no-one else can get you out of it.

All of the DFW board and all of those on it (most of those on it). Despite some regulars being absolutely horrible to me right at the start, everyone else was lovely
Just keep going, keep plugging away at it and working hard.:oTotal Debt: £0 [STRIKE]£33,043[/STRIKE]

Well the last time I remember that everything was paid up, I was 24, which was 29 years ago!
The muck truely hit the fan in 2008 and I did quite well to start with but then the total's started to rise again. I joined MSE in 2011, my diary was called 2nd lightbulb moment and although I was rubbish at keeping the diary I have learned loads which helped me succeed.
Debt at its highest was £32,000 but with fluctuations and interest, I've probably repaid £40,000. :T
Can I have one of those little icons pretty please???0 -

Hey BB,
Congratulations on your achievement. I had been following your progress, by checking out your signature when you posted. It seemed like that last £173.00 took forever to clear (it was probably only a month from your last pay day), but you've done it now, well done.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
It has been only a month since my previous pay day, but it felt like a year.
I think I'll fully appreciate it when I next get paid, and have £200+ extra left in my account.
BTW. I even got a discount on the interest, of nearly £5. :cool:0 -
So for the second time I am officially debt free :j:j:j
In Dec 06 I owed £15,250.33, debt free 20.11.10! swore to never again be in debt but due to hours at work being cut back and some huge expenses I dipped back into the overdraft and owed £1800 but today, 23rd August 2013 i'm finally back in the black! woop!! I am getting rid of the overdraft. I never want to be in debt again!!
The thread that helped me most is the make £10 a day challenge for sure! this is what's helped me get out of debt twice. Full of friendly, helpful people with lots of money making advice and support
