My account with the Halifax is an enquiry only service too and is in the hands of Wescot Credit Services DCA. I wrote to the Halifax asking for the repayment of my charges to be sent to me by cheque they wrote back saying that the offer is made on condition that the amount is credited to my account and to return the acceptance form. So, I phoned them up and asked how that would affect my account since its in the hands of a DCA and was told that once the money has been credited to my account I should contact the DCA and send them a copy of the letter I received offering the refund of my charges so that they are able to update the amount I owe. I am sending the acceptance form tomorrow.

I have a feeling that when I pay off all I owe on the account it will be re-opened as a basic bank account without an overdraft/debit card. When the re-payment of my charges is taken off I will owe them £440 when i first started paying them off I owed £1540.
